TAS FUNDRAISER

SEPTEMBER 11 (RAIN DATE: SEPT 25)
ELIZABETH BISHOP HOUSE, 8740 HIGHWAY 2, GREAT VILLAGE, NOVA SCOTIA

Have you ever wanted to experience painting and drawing while in the landscape?

One of our TAS Lifetime members, Joy Laking, has offered to lead us in a workshop on painting en Plein Air.

Joy laking has painted on location for over forty years.

Initially, when her children were small, she’d hire a baby sitter to come after school for two hours once a week. She always thought of these little watercolour paintings as just sketches for the real paintings that would happen later in the studio. Gradually she developed a love for painting outside in the bugs, the cold, the heat, the rain. Now she often returns to the same spot for several days and does large oils and acrylics outside. She had painted in many countries including India, Ghana, Bolivia, Italy, Greece, Japan and Thailand, always returning to her beloved Nova Scotia with fresh eyes.

On September 11 (rain date: Sept 25) Joy will lead participants in a Plein Aire workshop. Our meeting place will be the Elizabeth Bishop house, 8740 Highway 2, Great Village, Nova Scotia. Beginning with tips on how to start, Joy will field questions during the day as you paint on site. Finally Joy will offer a critique of participants’ works. (Please note: if Covid-19 numbers are on the rise, we will refund your registration and postpone the workshop until June of 2022.)

So … pack your lunch, compact your art supplies, and we will meet you at the Elizabeth Bishop House, 8740 Highway 2, Great Village, Nova Scotia. Please note that Parking is in the grassy area behind the house. We cannot use the Antique store parking lot.
