Hammer and Sky Studios, a not for profit artist space based in Westport, Nova Scotia, is calling artists to its self-directed artist residency. Open to artists from all backgrounds and at any stage of their career, the residency offers artists a two week stay on Brier Island, a remote island on the Bay of Fundy. The island is an ideal distraction free place where artists are free to focus on their creative projects while losing themselves in the rugged beauty of the island.
Hammer and Sky Studios facilities include a large restored heritage church that serves as a common studio, workshop and exhibition space. It houses a large vintage printing press that artists with print making knowledge can access. The facilities also include a fully equipped house where up to 4 artists can reside, two independent studios for artists seeking a private place to work, and a separate fully equipped loft that can accommodate two artists.
Wifi is available in all the spaces except in the two independent hilltop studios.
Residency fee: $375.00 per week, minimum 2 week residency, companions welcomed at no extra charge.
Residency dates in July are currently still available.
