About us
Peggy-Lynn Holland Studio is a Fine Art Studio located in the heart of Bedford, Nova Scotia.
Since 2004, the studio has offered quality art education to children, teens and adults through out the school year and summer. Our program appeals to students who are passionate about building their art skills. The focus of our program is to provide personalized skill building instruction necessary to students at each stage of their artistic growth.
All supplies are provided and include the following:
Dry mediums: graphite, charcoal, conte, chalk and oil pastels, coloured pencils, pens
Wet mediums: watercolour pencils, watercolours and acrylic paint, markers,
Because the program curriculum centers around skill building, it is not uncommon for students
to remain enrolled on average 6- 7 years or more. Our classes are comprised of multi age students at various stages of advancement. Ages ( 8 to 17 ).
That is why it is imperative the teacher must be able to grow with their students and adapt to their students ages, artistic subject matter and level.
The applicant will be working with a family owned and operated business, in a professional classroom studio. We are currently seeking an individual who has a passion for teaching art to children and youth. (ages 8 – 17) who can teach to a multi level age group of 5 students per class.
With the current increase of children- youth student enrollment, the successful candidate will join the studio to assist in offering a quality learning environment that educates, inspires and empowers students in building their artistic skills.
Responsibilities:
Adhere to established teaching curriculum
Prepare a lesson plan unique to each student’s level
Teach individual projects to each student within a 5 student class
Maintain positive relationships with students and parents
Document student lessons and evaluation
Maintain studio cleanliness
Classroom management and organization of curriculum and art materials
Maintain health and safety of children
Requirements
Minimum 5 years art teaching experience
Provide 3 work references
Speak and write English
Passion for art and art education
Education: Bachelor and or University degree, specialized in visual art programs
Experienced in traditional drawing and painting mediums:
Graphite, charcoal, chalk pastel, coloured pencil, watercolour pencils, coloured pencils,
Watercolour, acrylic paint
Proficient in / drawing and painting, composition
Skills in perspective, portraiture, figure drawing, an asset
Skilled in electronic devices / iPad
Criminal background check
