I have been taking photographs at sea on the sailboat Balaena in the Caribbean, North Atlantic and off the Galapagos for the last 11 years. These are part of a record of whale research done far out at sea on a 40 foot sailboat. The purpose of this work is to inspire the viewer with the excitement of scientific inquiry into the culture of whales in our remaining watery wilderness.
