Chinese Arts & History: Workshop with Jen Yang

Join artist Jen Yang for a hands-on workshop exploring traditional Chinese art

Learn about three major painting styles, meticulous brushwork, heavy-color painting, and ink wash, and compare them with Western techniques to spark fresh perspectives. Explore scroll formats, folk art traditions, and the cross-cultural influences that continue shaping art today.

Participants will:

Try ink wash painting and collaborate on a mixed-media handscroll

Discover diverse folk art traditions

Reflect on heritage, creativity, and artistic expression

Beginner to intermediate level, ages 16 and up. All materials provided. You may bring your own watercolours, rice paper, newspaper, brushes, or palette if you wish.
