HAMMER AND SKY STUDIOS ARTIST RESIDENCY CALL 2023

Hammer and Sky Studios is calling all artists to it’s self-directed artist-in-residence program in Westport, Nova Scotia. The residency is located on Brier Island, a beautiful, remote island on the Bay of Fundy.

The residency is open to emerging, mid-career and established artists. Hammer and Sky Studios is a dedicated art space that includes a restored heritage church, the Buckman House, the Loft and two private individual artist studios.

THE ARTIST SPACE
The central building is a restored heritage United Church. It offers a common area and studio space to artists including access to a vintage printing press.
The Buckman House is a shared artist space that can sleep up to 4 people (2 per bedroom), complete with a living room with a wood stove, a dining room, a fully equipped kitchen and two private bedrooms, each with a full bathroom.
The Loft is a suite that sleeps 2 with a living room, mini kitchen, bedroom and a full bathroom.

RESIDENCY FEE: $375 per week; minimum stay 2 weeks
The applicant may invite a companion to share their room at no extra charge.
The residency runs from May to November. We offer reduced rates for December to April.

Applicants are responsible for their own travel expenses, food, insurance, art materials, shipping costs or other expenses.
